Our agent was so great both before and during our trip to Italy. When I began my search for a travel agent to help my husband and I plan our first trip abroad, I was frustrated with nearly every agent I came across. Given that we were traveling in the off season (March) and wanted to see some sights out of the typical Italian itinerary, many agents immediately dismissed my desires and tried to sway my ideal itinerary by telling me that places would be closed, it's too cold to visit that location, etc. When I finally found this agent, he listened to all of my desires and helped us plan the trip of my dreams. He made helpful and welcome suggestions about the itinerary, found us wonderful places to stay well within our budget, arranged all of our train tickets and our car rental, and various tour guides and tickets to attractions in each destination. There were only a couple of things that didn't go according to plan, but when they did our agent was just a phone call away. He always replied quickly to my questions both during the trip and beforehand as well.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

We loved being able to hike in the Cinque Terre, and our time in San Gimignano was absolutely perfect. The sunsets in Tuscany are unreal. We also loved spending our first couple of days on the trip at the Amalfi Coast: our time there was very relaxed and made for a great introduction to Italy. Our tour guides in Florence and Venice were very informed and spoke great English, and they were able to give us tips to see the less touristy parts of both of those cities which was really fun for us.

Being in Italy during the off season meant less crowds, short or no lines to the major attractions, and being able to stay in much nicer places than we would have been able to afford otherwise. We were able to walk right into St. Mark's in Venice with no line (same at the Doge's Palace), and there were always tables available anywhere we wanted to eat or stop and have an espresso.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I think we would have spent an extra day in Florence (which our agent recommended and I declined due to only having so many days off work). I also would have checked over my travel packet that our agent sent a little more carefully as there were a couple of documents missing, but our agent was able to email those to use while we were in Italy so there were no big issues with that.
