Yes, way less time in the big cities and no time at the Vatican. We wanted a less touristy trip. Way to many people. The tours ate up too much time, and the Academia tour was especially disappointing.

We saw your review on Zicasso; I was glad to read you enjoyed the Cinque Terre, it's one of my favorite parts of Italy. I understand your comments regarding the tours at the Vatican and Accademia. Due to the popularity of these locations, large crowds are impossible to avoid; we book tours with less than 20 people, but of course the crowds around the group can be annoying. I apologize for not clearly understanding that you wanted a less touristy experience. Had I done so, I would have suggested avoiding the Vatican and the Accademia all together, and proposed smaller and equally nice museums and places to visit away from the tourist crowds.
