Luxury Africa Safari Review: South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Little Kwara Camp, Mashatu Private Game Reserve, Victoria Falls

Mashatu (southern Botswana) was our first of four camps, and perhaps unfairly it impressed me the most.  Wide open plains, spectacular vistas.  A herd of 25-30 elephants of all different sizes and ages marching in single file across the plain and crossing about 50 feet in front of us.  Baby lions, baby elephants, baby cheetahs, baby hyenas; and best of all, quietly witnessing (with only two other guests) the two-hour birth of a baby giraffe (six feet is a long way for a newborn to drop on its head).

The staff were friendly and competent in each of our four camps - Mashatu, Mala Mala (South Africa), Lebala and Little Kwara (northern Botswana).  The accommodations were good, and the food was great, much better than I had anticipated.
