Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Overall, we had a great time in Thailand and Cambodia. The booking and planning process was really great. They worked with me to tailor the itinerary to meet our needs, time-frame and budget. They always responded over email very promptly, usually the following day with answers to all of our questions.

The travel itinerary was the right balance for us. It was the right balance between scheduled time (tours and sightseeing) and free time at our own leisure. The accommodations were great for the price of the package (some of the places better than others). Almost all of the tours were private rather than group tours, and it was very nice to have personal guides at each of the places we visited to answer our personal questions and take pictures of us. Some of the guides were better than others, but they were all good, and they all spoke good English.

The staff always showed up on time, and there was always someone at each airport with a clearly marked sign to pick us up at each of our destinations. The vehicles that they used to transport us were more than sufficient. All had air conditioning and cold drinking water whenever we wanted.

The activities planned on the itinerary were also all great (with the exception of one that we felt really wasn't worth while). We had a great time, and would definitely recommend this company to other travelers.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

We really loved our time in Siem Reap exploring the Angkor Wat complex. We also had the opportunity to visit the Float House River Kwai. It was a beautiful hotel that literally floated on the river. The hotel had a number of different activities available. We went cave exploring, but the best part by far was the huge, beautiful room in such a unique setting.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

The one tour that they set up for us that we really didn't enjoy was a jungle trek a few hours away from Chiang Mai. I imagined a hike along a trail in the jungle looking for different animals, birds, plants, etc. It also mentioned visiting some local tribal villages. But instead it was a long walk along a muddy access road between different pieces of farmland. The local guide was kind and happy to point out different plants and crops, but it just wasn't worth such a long drive. The visit to the villages included a quick walk through the village and a couple of women who were not interested in sharing their culture, but only interested in pressuring you to buy a few trinkets much like the ones found in all of the markets across the country.

The other thing that I would change is the elephant camp. We were excited to have an experience with the elephants, but this specific place near Chiang Mai was just okay. We enjoyed the ride on the elephants, and the chance to feed them (provided that we purchased some bananas or sugar cane), but it seemed a little bit rushed. We researched a few other places that sounded a little bit more interesting. We would have loved the chance to learn a little bit more about the elephants, their behavior, etc. rather than just be funneled through the line.
