Review: Luxury Trip to Bhutan & Thailand, Festivals, History & Culture

1. The planning of the trip was made very easy with our travel agent as we could converse through Skype.

2. The guide & driver were extremely polite and helpful throughout our stay and complied with our requests easily and efficiently.

3. Our guide was a young man, eager but a bit inexperienced. I would have expected more general information from my guide regarding the life of the Bhutanese, like education, health insurance, economics etc. His training as a guide seemed to me to be concentrated in the culture, religion & history of Bhutan and no more. A more experienced guide would have known not to give too many details (like names of kings, monks etc.) as they will never be remembered by the visitor anyhow. A more general outline of the history, and recent modern history (like the relations with India for example, or with China for that matter) would have been more interesting and place Bhutan as it is today in the memory of a visitor. 

4. The two special events/festivals we attended, would have been much more enjoyable if we had someone explaining us what was going on. Who were the dancers, what did they represent, what were they telling us with their performance and so on. Some sort of translation throughout the event - otherwise it is meaningless to us the visitors and somewhat tedious.
