Switzerland & Italy Vacation Review: Zurich, Montreux, Lausanne, Interlaken, Zermatt, Florence, La Spezia, Cinque Terre

If I were to do this again, I would not have stayed in La Spezia. I would have stayed in Monterosso. There was really no reason if all we were doing is going to hike in Cinque Terra for us to have not stayed in one of the villages in Cinque Terra.
Similarly, when we visited Montreux we stayed in Lausanne. Again since all we did was go for one night and spend the day in Montreux, I would have just stayed at a hotel in Montreux.
One of our primary objectives was to take some good hikes. If I were to do this again, I would have skipped Zermatt and spent more time in Interlaken to go out and hike in Lauterbrunnen. There were some fantastic hikes around there that we did not get a chance to see.
And finally, if we were to go to Zermatt, it would have been nice if the tour company had let us know that you could hike down or up from the cable car stops instead of taking all of them and told us what the approximate time/distance was between the cable car stops if we chose to hike instead. This would have been a great service to us.
