Travel Review: Italy Anniversary Vacation, Naples, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento, Praiano, Capri Boating, Cooking Lesson

From the moment we walked off the plane and got our bags, a driver was waiting with our name. He was in a front row parking space in a new black mercedes. This was our first impression and we both looked at each other and said, "wow this is going to be an awesome trip." Our driver brought us to the port in Naples and purchased our tickets so we never had to wait in line and hung around with us until the boat came. 

Once in Capri, we came upon our hotel accommodations. I'm not sure I can put the hotel into words on how beautiful it was. We stayed the nicest 5 star boutique type hotel.  When we opened the doors to our room and had a front balcony that looked out the beautiful water, again we were awestruck. We had to pinch ourselves a few times. 

Again in Capri, we went on a private boat tour. This was all prearranged and a driver was ready to bring us where we needed to go. We were brought to our boat where we had a tour around Capri, which again was amazing. We went in and out of Grotto's while our captain told us some facts about the island. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning seeing the beautiful island of Capri.  

After a few days in Capri, which were just the most memorable times we were transferred to Praiano on the Amalfi Coast.  This was the cutest little village that was in between the busier towns of Positano and Amalfi.  Due to my broken foot we canceled Pompeii so we had some time to explore by ourselves.  One day we rented a convertible and drove the very twisty and tight roads around Amalfi, Sorrento, and Salerno.  

Another day we had another amazing driver who took us around the coast of Amalfi. He showed us another Grotto, walked around Amalfi, and then the most beautiful Ravello.  This was a great self tour with just enough guidance from the driver. 

Finally, we went to a private cooking class on our way back to Naples.  The cooking class was situated on a beautiful farm.  We went back and forth if we wanted to go to this, but we are so glad that we did. The food that we cooked will always be part of our recipes that we cook at home. We love that we will have that new skill with us.
